Is there a file size limit on the free face blur tool?+

There is no enforced file size limit. The only constraint is your device's available RAM. Modern browsers handle images up to 20–50MB without issue. For very large images (e.g. 100MP RAW exports), we recommend resizing first with our Image Resizer.

Can I blur faces on a photo that contains text or other objects?+

Yes — the AI only blurs regions it identifies as faces. Background scenery, text, logos, and objects are untouched. Only the face bounding boxes receive the Gaussian blur effect.

Does the tool store or share my photos?+

No. Your photos never leave your device. All face detection (AI model inference) and image processing happens exclusively inside your browser using JavaScript and WebGL. We have no servers involved in the actual processing.

Is the face blur strong enough to be unrecognisable?+

At blur strength 15–30, faces are rendered completely unrecognisable through a multi-pass Gaussian blur. For maximum anonymisation (e.g. legal or journalistic use), set the slider to 25 or higher.

Does the face blur work on group photos?+

Yes. The AI detects multiple faces simultaneously — all will be blurred in a single pass. Group photos, crowd shots, and multi-person images are all supported.

Will the blur tool work on my iPhone or iPad?+

Yes. The tool works on Safari for iOS 15+ and Chrome for Android. The AI model runs using WebGL, which is supported on all modern mobile browsers. Performance is slightly slower on mobile but fully functional.
